Aptra® microporous polypropylene film is a novel film produced by RKW US, Inc., a subsidiary of RKW AG Rheinische Kunststoffwerke. RKW is the largest producer of breathable and non-breathable industrial and hygiene films in Europe.

Aptra® Classic and Aptra® UV8 microporous film is produced exclusively in North America for RKW US, Inc. in an ISO 9001 plant under stringent quality requirements.

Aptra® film is engineered so that special polymer chemistry allows less filler than conventional microporous films. This gives Aptra® improved moisture transport, excellent barrier properties, a superior non abrasive surface and excellent bonding characteristics. This unique polymer chemistry allows Aptra® to be easily stabilized for outdoor applications while maintaining its superior barrier properties and moisture transport.

Aptra® UV8 has emerged as the industry leader in breathable roofing composite in Europe. Aptra® Classic has been used successfully for several years in disposable protective clothing. These are only two examples of how this versatile film can be used.

Aptra® is easily laminated to a wide variety of substrates using several methods. Composite structures utilizing thermally bonded carded web and spun bonded nonwovens are only two of the many configurations that are possible. Lamination can be accomplished by point bonding with a heated calendar, sonic bonding, heat sealing, and with spray adhesives.

Aptra® films non abrasive surface makes it a superior packaging film where delicate surfaces need to be protected. The film will allow curing of painted surfaces without scratching or clouding.

Aptra® Classic is a 25 gram per square meter high performance beta crystalline polypropylene film. The process is patented. Aptra® Classic is the ideal breathable film for dynamic applications. It passes ASTM F1670 – Blood Borne Pathogen & ASTM F1671 – Viral Penetration.
